Tutorial
Many Six Grade students are very familiar with creating a Powerpoint presentation, but others may not be. Students can go to the following website for a user friendly tutorial that will address areas that the students need to learn about. It can be very individualized and provide for varying knowledge levels. The site is called Powerpoint in the classroom. It is at www.actden.com/pp/ . It uses two animated hosts: Sue Special and Jim Jingle to guide students through creating a Powerpoint. The site also includes information for teachers, and the tutorials can be printed for classroom use. A bonus about this site is that it gives students pointers about using graphics from the internet with permission, and how to obtain permission. Another bonus is that it can be individualize not only in topics to learn about, but also individual students can spend as little or much time as they need. It could also be put on the students’ list of favorite site, and thereby referred throughout the assignment.
