Hi! My name is Tracy Spivey, and I am a first grade teacher at Maxfield Elementary. I am a native of Gorman, having graduated from Gorman High School in 1983. I also have a bachelor's degree from Tarleton State University with certifications in general education, reading, and physical education. I am a mother of three children, ages 20, 16, and 10. I have been teaching for 12 years, all of which were at Maxfield Elementary in grades 1 and 3.

First grade is a milestone in the life and education of all students. Our greatest focus will be on reading instruction, and will be taught across all content areas. Children will have daily reading assignments to be completed at home. This home/school link will be a vital part of your child's success in becoming a fluent reader. I welcome your participation and input in this very important part of your child's curriculum this year.

I want as soon as possible to visit with each of my student's families. We need to have open communication between school and home in order to do what is best for our kids. Please feel free to contact me through the school office or via email any time you feel the need.
