Curriculum Overview

Reading Overview:

Each week, we will read a story from our basil reader and use it as the basis for the following skills:
Cause and Effect
Draw Conclusions
Context Clues
Predicting
Main Idea
Summary

Spelling Overview

Students will learn spelling words from each reading story, complete daily assignments to learn those words, and take a written spelling test each Friday.

English Overview

Students will focus on identifying nouns, common nouns, singular, and plural nouns.

Science Overview

Students will study living things and their environments including endangered and extinct organisms.

Social Studies Overview

Students will focus on learning about their community as well as other communities across the United States. Students will continue learning map skills by labeling maps.

Math Overview

Students will continue to refine their math skills by studying number sense, rounding, and geometry, money, and story problems.
