This year in second grade we are using the theme "taking care of business." Your child will be learning skills that will encourage them to be lifelong learners.

Your child will be participating in team building activities once or twice a week. These are activities built around cooperation, sportsmanship, and respect.

In second grade we work on building fluency and comprehension in reading. Your child will have reading homework Monday through Thursday. It is extremely important that they read at least 20 minutes each night. Again, this builds fluency and comprehension which prepares them for third grade where they will "read to learn."
Your child will have mathematics homework Monday through Thursday. Please check your childs homework and go over any mistakes that might have been made.
New spelling words will be given each Monday. Two spelling tests will be given during the week. The first test will be given on Wednesday. Students making 100% on Wednesday will not be required to take the test on Friday. Students not making 100%, will be required to take the test again on Friday.

My conference time is 9:30-10:15 Monday through Friday.
