Welcome to the world of music! My name is John Howard, Jr. and I have loved music all of my life! My mother taught me to sing when I was very young and I began singing in church at the age of three! I have taught music privately for years and this is the eighth year that I have been teaching publicly. I graduated from Gorman High School in 1980 and attended Western Texas College, American Intercontinental University, Phoenix University and I am a recent graduate of Tarleton State University. In addition, I attended one summer session at CJC as well as two online classes. My first love is Jesus. My wife Charlotte, the love of my life, and I have five children; Tara, Lana, Lacy, K’ann, Trey, two sons-in-law, three awesome grandchildren (granddaughter & 2 grandsons). All four of our daughters are recent graduates of Gorman High School and the youngest, our one and only son is still in attendance.
My objective as a teacher of music and fine arts is to pass on my love for the art of music to each student. It is my goal as a teacher to create a standard of excellence in the musicianship of all the students that I am privileged to teach. Also, I will work hard to develop each student’s individual talents to their fullest potential. In addition, we as a class will continue the rich legacy of all those who have performed before us, while considering all those who will follow. There have been many great teachers of music pass through the doors of the Gorman Panther Band Hall whose accomplishments as teachers were accented only by the incredible talent developed there and displayed on football fields, in parades, and concert halls. This legacy will continue to live and flourish.
